Bittorrent with VPN vs. Usenet

With an increased number of complaints about people downloading copyright material from the Internet via Bittorrent and other P2P filesharing software applications, it is time that they safeguard themselves by using VPN. However, users are now more conscious about their online profiles and they are showing interest in Usenet which costs almost the same as VPN. So, the real question which one should they choose?

Pricing

Bittorrent is free to use, but Usenet requires users to pay a fee on a monthly basis. Online piracy of copyright materials and aggressive trolling by various authorities, it would be a crime not to use VPN service. Using VPN with Bittorrent can help users in more than one way to securely download files from the Internet without getting caught. VPN service is not required by users if there is no copyright enforcement in their country.
Bittorrent with VPN vs. Usenet
Security and privacy

Both VPN and Usenet encrypt the connection between a computer and the server to ensure that the ISP is unable to detect the IP address and the files that is downloading. Users can safely use their P2P filesharing software Bittorrent with VPN, but the only disadvantage that Bittorrent with VPN has is getting disconnected in between when downloading files. This leaves the connection unsecure that makes it vulnerable and open to copyright infringement.

Availability of files
There are tonnes of files available for download via Usenet as well as Bittorrent. But, what limits the activities on Usenet is its limited retention time. As more & more people are opting for Usenet, the providers are offering extended retention time to get a file downloaded. In Usenet if a file is missing or unavailable for download, then users need to wait for the same to be uploaded again to download. This is not the case with Bittorrent as practically users can find almost all the files that they want to download, but downloading entirely depends on other users seeding them. This is the reason why it takes way too long for users to download old files that have limited seeders.

Data transfer and speed

When it comes to speed, Usenet wins the bid hands-down. This is simply because users are downloading files directly from the server and users can max-out their Internet bandwidth, but the rate of transfer will depend entirely on the Internet subscription plan that is controlled by the ISP. On the other hand, Bittorrent speeds are based on various factors like the ratio and number of leechers and seeders, and also on the bandwidth of the Internet connection.

Data limitations

Usenet limits the amount of data download on a monthly basis, but there are plans that are unlimited but pricey. There is no such data limitations with Bittorrent, but in certain cases the ISPs limits the amount of data to be downloaded by imposing fair usage policies.

Conclusion
Bittorrent with VPN is a better option in countries with or without copyright infringement. But, in other countries Usenet is a better choice because of its excellent security and speed. But, data limitations on Usenet is an issue for users who prefer unlimited downloads.
